On a site of 15 hectares, the C2FPA has everything a company can hope to train the personnel of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Services:

Training equipment

  • 2 complete aircraft fire simulators on a 1:1 scale:
    • Long-haul BOEING 747 of category 9 ;
    • Medium-haul AIRBUS 320/BOEING 737/ATR72.
  • 6 fuel spill fires:
    • 100 m2 ;
    • 2 x 50 m2 ;
    • 3 x 5 m2.
  • Fire wall:
    • 4 meters x 3 meters.
  • BOEING 747-200 (formerly Air France) ;
  • Recording cameras for operational practise exercises;
  • Off road path of 1,700 meters.

Security and technology of our fire simulators

A guarantee of security

Since October 2011, the C2FPA has had a second fire simulator (BOEING 747) which is totally independent from the first one, which permits to guarantee the security of its training equipment.

Each fire simulator (BOEING 747 and AIRBUS 320/BOEING 737 / ATR 72) works in a totally autonomous way. Its equipment and its computer networks are distinct and ensure safe operation.

Two control towers called « TWR B747 » and « TWR A320 » allow the operation of fire simulation equipment. Each TWR is located in front of its simulator to have a bilateral view of the simulator. In case of incident or accident, the instructor can activate the general power cut button as soon as possible.

Leading-edge technology

This technology is shown by a highly secured control of the installation, the division of fire areas into sectors to integrate diverse scenarios and the fire start time delay of each zone.

Each area can be parameterized according to the LPG flow which allows a different calorific potential in the same exercise phase.

According to the defined training objective, fire simulators can be used either in manual mode or in automatic mode. The combined operation of different simulators is possible.

Movement on all the circumference of movement areas

A fire simulator must have an important movement area on all its circumference. As Rescue and Fire Fighting Vehicles have a maximum turret nozzle range of 65 meters, they have to be able to move in “dynamic” mode on 360° around the aircraft.

The movement area of our BOEING 747 simulator offers a perimeter distance of 75 meters to 120 meters. The one of the A320/B737 simulator has a diameter of 100 meters with two road accesses.

Only in this condition, the Principles of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting can be applied efficiently and from an educational standpoint, on all scenarios of confined fire and large general fire with 2 and 3 Rescue and Fire Fighting Vehicles.
